Episode 19 – Are your ears Thor?

In our first episode of 2015 we are joined by regular guest extraordinaire, Jason as well his good friend, Scott. Scott is apparently an actual fan of the show. Let that one sink in…we have a real listener and reader of this thing. Not sure who I’m typing to here so….Hi Mike, Jason and Scott!

Anyways…we discuss the new Avengers trailer, Spiderman in the MCU rumors, Ant Man and Agent Carter. As always, we deviate from the set topics and dive into the great blue deep of Nerdsense!

Episode 17 – Is it in Yet?

This weeks episode is a little late due to busy schedules and plain ole forgetfulness.

We have Jason back as special guest this week and we finally get to taste the beer Mike and I brewed in the episode before, Nerdsense Hefeweizen

We also discuss Tusk and the casting of the Suicide Squad.

Episode 16 – Nerdbrew

This weeks episode is a little hectic. Mike and I brew a 1 gallon batch of Bavarian Hefeweizen during the show so there are a few breaks we edited the best we could. We also delve into rather lengthy music discussion which should make the music nerds happy.

Beer

Night Shift Young Guns – This was part of a “showdown” to find the next recipe for Night Shift’s Morph IPA series. It was actually one of the losers but still pretty damn good. More info on the competition can be found here.

Stone Lucky Bastard Criminal – A version of their Lucky Bastard, which is exceptional, but they then tossed in a  tremendous amount of hot peppers then aged it in bourbon barrels. The peppers are just to over powering and just destroy your mouth. The real crime is they ruined bottles of Lucky Bastard for this.

Episode 15 – Avenge of the Nerds

We invited Jason back to the show this week as we had a lot of ground to cover. We discuss the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer at length while more or less scolding DC again.

As always we venture off into tirades of nerdy nonsense.

Episode 12 – Ol’ Faithful

In this weeks episode we are joined by our friend Joel. He adds more of the actual comic book nerdery we’ve needed. He can speak on multiple comic arcs and sort of flesh out stuff we discuss in relation to comic movies.

We’ve been trying to get Joel on for awhile but schedules never aligned properly or he bailed.

We decided to do things a little different this week. Instead of just telling you what beer we were drinking, we did a whole segment on Sam Adams Latitude 48 Deconstructed 12 pack. Latitude 48 is an IPA by Sam Adams that includes 5 different types of hops. Sam Adams brewed 5 versions of the Latitude 48 to better show the drinker how each hop brings it’s own characteristics to Latitude 48.

Each beer is brewed with one of the hop styles. Some of the beers are sweeter and mellower than others whereas some give off an extremely juicy hop burst. You are meant to sample each beer then sample the Latitude 48 at the end. It really opens your eyes into brewing and all the time and effort it must take to select the right flavors to brew a properly balanced beer.

As always we still nerd out and discuss the Gotham Pilot, the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Michael briefly touches on Kevin Smiths new film, Tusk.

Episode 11 – Redemption

In this weeks podcast we get a little more serious. We discuss my new baby girl, Kaylee Grace Furey, and how I’ve been dealing with a newborn for the last week. Mike discusses one of his musical projects, Tom Rogers, that he is doing with his brother Josh and our friend Sean.

You can find their previous record from a few years ago as well as some new recordings from their sophomore effort below.

Tom Rogers — https://soundcloud.com/michaelgendron

Mike also discusses the state of live music and how smaller acts\local bands get the shaft when playing bars and clubs.

We also touch on the discrimination of gays which stemmed from a rather disgusting YouTube video we came across last week. You can find this video linked below but it is pretty hard to watch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUx4qkCgfU8

For our more nerdy topics we discuss the new batmobile, TNT’s proposed Teen Titans. Batman-on-Films Editor, Jett also takes some flak for his holier than though attitude lately.

Episode 10 – Clerks Fail (About Mike and Shaun)

This is an extremely short episode where Mike and myself give a little background on who we are, how we became friends and how this site and podcast came to be. We recorded it on August 16, 2014 but wanted to wait to release it since it was rather short and didn’t really go into what we usually discuss on Nerdsense. A good excuse to release it was came on September 11, 2014 when my daughter, Kaylee Grace Furey, was born so we had to postpone recording this weeks podcast. In order to keep with our weekly installments, it seemed a good of a time as any to release this.

We originally planned to record a commentary of Kevin Smith’s Clerks that day but about 20 minutes into the recording Mike looked at me and said “This isn’t working”. It clearly wasn’t as Clerks is a fairly dialogue driven movie which makes it hard to discuss when we’re reading subtitles.
