Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #178 Trillium Congress Street

As you will notice right away, Mike and I did a good amount of reviews before this one.  Mike probably a little more than me…don’t worry though, the tables will be turned when we release our next video….

Notes: Our flagship American IPA highlights the distinctively aromatic Australian Galaxy hop.  The nose bursts with pine, citrus rind, melon and pineapple. Pronounced flavors of peach, clementine, and tropical fruits are accentuated with moderate bitterness and balanced by a light, biscuity malt character.   (7.2%)
Rating: 4.25/5 (Shaun thinks Mike was drunk and wouldn’t normally give this a 4.25)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #177 Treehouse Tornado

We’ve got a new one from Treehouse! This is a Pale Ale called Tornado!

From the Treehouse Description:

Tornado was crafted during the unfortunate events surrounding the June 1st, 2011 Brimfield Tornado.

We created the beer in honor of the circumstances as we experienced them and luckily escaped the path by 1/2 mile

Notes:. Tornado is loaded with notes of pine, tropical fruit, and citrus (5.6%)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #175 Idle Hands Four Seam

Our first Idle Hands beer on the channel! This is their New England Style IPA designed using a rotating IPA series called Change Up.

Style: IPA

Glassware: Treehouse Teku’s
Notes:Four Seam, our first year round IPA, conjures up thoughts of a tropical paradise with bursts of citrus, mango and guava that sit on top of a refrained malt backbone. Bitterness remains subdued to allow the true character of the hops to shine through while the cloudy appearance elevates the experience  (6.6%)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #167 Trillium Big Bird

We captured the illustrious Big Bird. This is the latest beer to come out of Trillium’s hype machine. It’s made with hops they won’t even tell us about it! I wasn’t aware some hops required an NDA…

It seems this was recorded with the camera mic vs the mixer mic. It still sounds good though. Hope you enjoy it.

Notes: Big Bird is featuring a new signature hop.  This new hop gives Big Bird an intense nose that zaps the senses with aromas of lime, overripe papaya, and pithy citrus. Flavors of pineapple and tangy grapefruit are balanced by a light body and dank, resinous finish (8.5%)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #163 Trillium Dialed In (w/ Chardonnay & Gewürztraminer Juice)

Another variant of Dialed In makes its way to the table! Is it as good as the Sauvignon blanc we reviewed previously? Tune in to find out!

Notes: This iteration of Dialed In is a fresh, juicy Double IPA intensively dry hopped with Galaxy and Citra. Pouring a vibrant, hazy gold; aromas of white wine, tropical fruit, and citrus swirl around the nose. Upfront flavors of grassy hop, orange juice, and pineapple coincide with vinous notes from the mid-fermentation addition of Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer juice. Soft and creamy with moderate bitterness; Medium-Light bodied with a crisp, dry finish. (8.5%)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews -#155 Burial & Night Shift I Know For A Fact You Don’t Party

Oh…we party! This is a collaboration between two fantastic breweries. Burial from Asheville, NC and Night Shift from Everett, MA. Can they combine their forces to make a stout to end all states? Watch and find out!

Notes: Imperial Stout is brewed with Pilsner, pale chocolate, flaked barley, Blackprinz, honey, Beechwood Smoked, Cherrywood Smoked, Carared, and Double Roasted Crystal malt. Coconut sugar and brown sugar round out this heafty stout. (10%)

It’s another Bright day at Nerdsense HQ. We reviewed Treehouse’s Bright with Citra a few weeks back and we finally got to try OG Bright! Watch to find out our thoughts!

Notes: Bright was created to be a clean and elegant showcase for one of our favorite hops – Mosaic! Bright’s aroma is a cornucopia of citrus dank… The taste follows suit with notes of grapefruit, sweet berries, and clementine with a gentle orange rind finish. She is dry, soft, deceptively juicy and adequately bittered resulting in a very approachable yet pungent Double IPA. (7.8%)

Notes: This beer is an imperial version of Alter Ego. It is intensely kettle and dry hopped to produce a pungent and flavorful Double IPA that is super pleasant to drink. It is simply and easily described as a juicy and dank citrus bomb. (8.2%)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #139 Fort Hill Wilbur

Bacon Beer! Ok, it’s not bacon beer but we do love a good Rauchbier!

Style: Rauchbier
Container: 12oz Can
Glassware: Flutes
Notes: A lighter take on our Rauchbier, Wilbur is subtly smoky and delightfully drinkable. Often referred to as our “Bacon Beer,” this smoky lager features campfire aromas and hints of cured meat. Lucky for vegetarians, Wilbur’s robust flavor comes from beech-smoked barley malt from Bamberg, Germany… not bacon. It pours a straw yellow (5.9%)
