Nerdsense Episode 65 – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

IT’s FINALLY HERE! The moment we’ve all been waiting for, ladies and gentlemen, is HERE. It’s March 25 and apparently it’s Good Friday.

We are taking a cold, hard look at the first film in what has become the DC Cinematic Universe, ‘Man of Steel.’

Nerdsense Episode 63 – The Dark Knight Returned…And he’s kind of a jerk

It’s been a long and lonely road, friends. But we shall persevere on this adventure. We are almost there, and Batman V Superman will be worth it.

On this stop, we apply our usual brand of tough justice to the animated adaptation of Frank Miller’s seminal Dark Knight Returns. (See what I did there?)

This story allegedly informs a large part of the upcoming film, so we wanted to make sure we freshened up on it, so to speak. It’s the most famous of the physical battles between Bats and Supes, and deservedly so.

We also, as usual, cover as much of the weekly geek news as we see fit to print. Trust me, “Parker!” There’s a lot.

Next week, it’s Man of Steel… And then the week after, we will be arriving at our intended destination, the AMC theater in Tyngsboro, in order to watch BvS. Cheers!

Beer

Trillium Summer St. IPA

Same distinctive grain bill as the other “Street” IPA’s, but heavily dry hopped with Simcoe. Our treatment of Simcoe results in beautifully balanced aromatics and provides a satisfying depth of hop-driven flavor. Summer Street IPA bursts with scents of spicy pine, lemon, and grape juice while focused flavors of citrus, pear, and essence of pine wash over the palate. Finish is dry with moderate, resinous bitterness.

Trillium Pot and Kettle Oatmeal Stout

Our signature porter, brewed with oats, has a soft, velvety mouthfeel with layers of chocolate and roasted malt on the palate. The ominously black appearance belies this porter’s approachability; Pot & Kettle is satisfyingly smooth and nourishing, but never lumbering or heavy. While not sweet, dark fruit notes, such as cherries, dates, and raisins, reveal themselves as the beer warms.

With over 100 IBUs Yellow Wolf has enough eye-popping intensity to satisfy even the most ardent hopheads. It has bright piney nose and light golden color. We suggest pairing it with sunshine.

Nerdsense Episode 62 – Under the Red Hood

Another week, another step forward. We are almost there, ladies and gentlemen. Our tickets are purchased. Our seats are guaranteed. But we still have miles to go before we see Batman V Superman.

The train stopped at ‘Batman: Under the Red Hood’ this week, and we weren’t going to complain.

As we’ve done in previous weeks, we take apart the film, talking about the good and the bad, and have fun with it. We also take a look at some of the nerdy news, and discuss the latest episode of Legends of Tomorrow.

There is a heaping scoop of Nerdsense this week, so enjoy the latest pit stop on the our road to BvS. Cheers!
