Episode 54 – No News means Beer News

It’s a slow news week in regards to nerdy things but that doesn’t stop Mike and Shaun from trekking through and discussing some upcoming beer fests and brewery tours. They scrape together a bit of nerd talk but for the most part this is a fairly beer centric conversation.

Sit back, pop open a cold one and hit play!

 12oz Can
Glassware:

Episode 53 – Drinking in the New Year

In the latest episode of Nerdsense, your hosts give a shout out to some of the highlights of the past year, talking about some of their favorite movies, video games and albums.

They also discuss the latest Deadpool trailer and finally get around to talking about the latest Mission Impossible film, Rogue Nation.

It’s a pretty informal conversation, and the boys definitely get their buzz on, but it’s lively and fun, with an over abundance of f-bombs courtesy of Mike. It’s the year end episode and they do not disappoint.

They also give their opinions on the recent Arrow/Flash two part crossover extravaganza, and have a more in depth discussion on the new Netflix series Jessica Jones.

Is Kilgrave the best MCU villain yet? Is Jessica Jones a better show than Daredevil? See what the guys think in the latest episode of Nerdsense.

Guinness Nitro IPA

Style: IPA?

12oz Can
Glassware:
Smuttynose Balloon Glasses

Episode 49 – Fear and Loathing at Shaun’s Place

Marvel Things! We dive into the new Civil War trailer which shows our first quick look at Black Panther in action! Mike and I give our current thoughts on Jessica Jones. No Spoilers, don’t worry. That will be next weeks episode, so catch up now!

We’re joined this week by Jason where we touch on some often neglected videogame news!  He also brought us a pretty special beer.

He brought us a sample bottle of Sam Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA!  Currently it’s only on draft with bottles and cans coming in 2016. From the sample, I’ll definitely be picking up a 6 pack of cans when they hit shelves! It’s definitely one of the more interesting new offerings from Sam in awhile.

And, as usual we go down the rabbit hole that is beer…

Beers

Rock Art Limited Access

Style: Double IPA
Container:
 2 x 16oz Can
Glassware:
Tulip and Snifter
Overall Nerdsense Rating:
3.5/5
Notes:
Not as good as Rock Arts other offerings, the nose smells a lot better than the taste but it still beats out other non Vermont DIPA’s

Lawsons and Otter Creek Double or Nothing

Style: Barleywine
Container:
 12oz Bottle
Glassware:
Tulip and Snifter
Overall Nerdsense Rating:
3.5/5
Notes:
Not as good as Rock Arts other offerings, the nose smells a lot better than the taste but it still beats out other non Vermont DIPA’s

Samuel Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA

Style: Barleywine
Container:
 12oz Bottle
Glassware:
Tulip and Snifter
Overall Nerdsense Rating:
3.0/5
Notes:
This isn’t Grapefruit Sculpin by any means. It’s surprisingly tasty though. For a Sam, you don’t get the normal “Sam Yeast” taste. The grapefruit probably over powers that. The hoppiness isn’t very big as that is also over powered by the grapefruit. Maybe it’s more of a shandy but I like the grapefruit flavor.

Episode 48 – The Tale of the Beer Glass Proper

We have Josh join us this week as we discuss proper craft beer glassware.

This episode is a overview of all the different types of glassware for different beer styles.

We’re going to continue this discussion in a future episode and actually sample beers in their proper glassware. This episode is just to familiarize people with glassware if they don’t already know much about the topic.
